Welcome to the Blue 88
website. Blue 88 is
an
energetic blues
rock band with a twenty year
history in
the Midwest and elsewhere. Veterans of too many Midwestern
club and festival dates to count,
the band has been spreading it's wings to other parts of the country
from South Dakota to south Florida.
Blue 88 was established twenty years ago by husband and wife team Mark
and Sue Corbett on guitars,
focusing on dual lead work and intricate chord voicings. This is
featured on all four of our self - produced,
all original, compact discs. You'll hear the influences of Allman
Brothers, Savoy Brown, Janis Joplin, and
Koko Taylor in a style some have called progressive blues, contemporary
blues, or just plain old blues rock.
No matter how you may want to describe it, we just like to play good
music for good people.
Blue 88 has had the
privilege of opening
shows
for some legendary artists over the years, including
Junior Wells, Robin Trower, Savoy Brown, Dave Mason, Black Oak Arkansas
and the Marshall Tucker Band.
We have also had the honor of competing in the International Blues
Challenge in Memphis TN. and performing
at the International South Florida Blues Festival in Fort Lauderdale
Florida. We always look forward to our
annual shows at the spring and fall motorcycle rallies in Myrtle Beach,
South Carolina and Daytona Beach,
Florida, and this year we will be celebrating our ninth year at the
Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in Sturgis, South Dakota.
Even though we are spending more time on the road, be sure to check our
calender for local shows in or around
our Kansas City, Kansas home base. Kansas City, Kansas has been the
birthplace of many great musicians and
we are proud to call it home.
